Remembering Lucy …
Lucy’s Smile

We would challenge anyone to find an image or recall a memory of Lucy that is not dominated by her amazing smile. All the pictures we can find feature that dazzling look and, despite the tough times she ultimately went through, it was always there peeking through. It went hand in hand with her caring nature for other people – whether that be staff, friends, family or work colleagues and associates. She had this wonderful capacity to make each and every individual feel loved and important – whether you came across her only once or had known her for years. And however small your connection she had an effortlessly capacity to make you feel valued. A fabulous person to have known who has left a gaping gap in many people’s lives, she will be remembered for many things but in particular her radiant smile.

Lucy and Prestige Dental
Lucy began in dentistry as a dental nurse but when the opportunity came to be part of running a dentistry business, she jumped at the opportunity. Lucy’s passion for everything dental soon developed into Prestige Dental alongside business partner Paul Martin who came with his dental lab expertise. Lucy’s drive and Paul’s knowledge soon earned them an enviable place in the dental community as talented individuals with a trusted business. A sense of fun was always part of the package and those who got to know Lucy personally over the years always commented on her warmth and winning personality. Her enthusiasm for the business never waned and she continued to be a huge part of it all through her illness and treatment programmes. The gap she has left in the business is huge. Here are just some of the wonderful messages we have had from the dental community:
“...we are so glad that you made it out to our house that one year during the Mid-Winter meeting and that we also met up in Paris and had a drink with you guys… just some of the many memories we will cherish and have with us forever..
I will remember Lucy not only as a highly valued business partner but, above all, as a wonderful person …her warmth, trust and friendship meant so much to me both personally and professionally. I am truly grateful to have known her and to have had her in my life for so many years – she leaves a huge void and we will miss her dearly.
I will always remember Lucy as the warm-hearted, kind, open and joyful person I had the privilege of knowing over all these years. What always impressed me about her was that she never lost her smile or her positive spirit, even during the last years when she was facing such a serious illness.”
Lucy and Marie Curie

As many people know Lucy was a tireless fundraiser for Marie Curie which began after she lost her grandmother, who was cared for in her final days at the Marie Curie Bradford Hospice. Following her grandmother’s passing Lucy began fund raising for Marie Curie as a thank you for the fabulous care the hospice gave. It started with a Garden Tea Party for a few close friends one summer. This grew over the years to a fabulous occasion usually hosting over 100 guests at a sumptuous garden tea party with a huge raffle, cake stalls, games galore, a singer and so much more. It was held rain or shine and took months of pre-planning with Lucy at the helm always driving to make it bigger and better each year. Over the years Lucy efforts raised in excess of £30k for the charity and Marie Curie had this to say:
“Lucy was such a wonderful supporter of Marie Curie, and we will always be so grateful for her kindness and generosity. A truly beautiful person who will be greatly missed …”
