Dive into Prestige Dental’s favourites!

February might be the shortest month of the year, but this newsletter is still jampacked full, starting with a few of our FAVOURITE February details.
Who knew that the Old English name for February was ‘Solmonath,’ meaning ‘mud month,’ due to the wet conditions typical of this time of year? Such an apt description for Yorkshire recently! The odds of being born in a leap year on 29th are about 1 in 1,461, making it the rarest birthday in the calendar. And have you been lucky enough to see the Northern Lights (Aurora Borealis)? They are the most visible now due to the long, dark nights. However, our FAVOURITE day is 14th Feb, Valentine’s Day for pure love, romance and not forgetting the chocolate and flowers!
Which brings us neatly back to our main topic of FAVOURITES this month. It’s easy with so many products on the market, to get caught up in the hype, and forget those – both old and new – which have really resonated with us. We have built a business on selecting the very best in small equipment and consumables, but we still have those treasured solutions that remain top of the list. Here Paul shares some of his top picks for both the Dental Lab and Surgery, and why he believes they are so special.

Primopattern Gel and Paste
www.prestige-dental.co.uk/?post_type=product&s=primopattern

Paul says: I get asked which materials I trust and this is one of my personal favourites. It’s a material that makes the process predictable, stress-free and consistent every time.
Product: Primopattern Gel and Paste
Why: The Gel and Paste are perfectly matched, making application fast and precise with high stability. Its MMA and peroxide-free, so safer to handle and I never worry about warping – the final hardness is reliable.
Anything else: It also fits into a busy workflow; long working time (over 20mins) but quick curing in under 5 mins with most common light-curing devices. Finishing is a breeze with standard carbide burs and rubber polishers.

Rhein83 Reconstructive Sphere Kit
www.prestige-dental.co.uk/product/rhein83-concave-reconstructive-sphere-kit/

Paul says: On many occasions I’ve had requests for help with regaining retention on worn or unknown ball attachments – Rhein83 have the answer with this product.
Product: Reconstructive Concave Sphere Kit.
Why: The Kit allows worn ball attachments to be restored rather than replaced, making it possible to fabricate a new prosthesis with improved retention. The reconstructive spheres are then fixed to the adapted original ball by bonding with an anaerobic self-hardening composite.
Anything else: For bonding we’d highly recommend using Rhein83 OTCemhttps://www.prestige-dental.co.uk/product/rhein83-ot-cem-composite-cement/ for a reliable and predictable bond.

Ceraglaze Flexible Discs
www.prestige-dental.co.uk/product/ceraglaze-flexible-discs/

SAVE NOW – Currently on offer @ £26.25
Paul says: I regularly recommend this product for finishing ceramic work. They’re particularly effective for shoulder polishing and precise spot grinding on high performance ceramic and Zirconia.
Product: Ceraglaze Flexible Discs.
Why: What makes them stand out is the rubber bonded construction, which helps absorbs heat during polishing – reducing the risk of microcracks, decolourisation or damage to the restoration. The flexibility of the discs allows them to adapt well to anatomical contours, making them ideal for finishing crowns and bridges that are already shaped.
Anything else: The fine tapered edges also give controlled access to interdental and hard-to-reach areas, helping achieve a smooth, high gloss finish without compromising marginal integrity. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Paul says: Another of my favourites is the diamond disc from Nti, a strong option for smoothing interdental spaces and surface preparation on ceramic work.
Product: NTi 344 Cerashape Ultraflex Disc.
Why: The non cutting edge allows for precise contouring without creating sharp edges or nicks, which is particularly important when finishing ceramics.
Anything else: Combined with its flexibility and superfine diamond coating, it offers excellent control and consistently high-quality finishing results.

Rhein83 OT Equator Kit for Implants
https://www.prestige-dental.co.uk/product/ot-equator-kit-for-implants/

Paul says: The flexibility of this product make it a winner for me – a ‘narrow’ profile titanium attachment which fits all implant platforms and the smallest overdenture attachment currently available on the market.
Product: Rhein83 OT Equator Kit for Implants.
Why: The maximum vertical dimension – attachment, retentive cap and housing combined – is only 2.1mm, with a total diameter of 4.5mm. Retentive caps are available in multiple colours each corresponding to a specific retention. To ensure optimal performance and simplified procedures the caps must always be used with their dedicated metal housings.
Anything else: OT Equator attachments are offered in a wide range of gingival heights, depending on the implant platform from a minimum of 0.5mm to a maximum of 7.0mm.
