Primobyte

primologo3

Light cured centric bite registration material

Preparations

Step 1 For the preparation of the primobyte centric registration base plate, models of hard dental stone (min. class III material) are required.

Step 2 The models need to be mounted with habitual intercuspidation in the articulator.

An adequate separator (stone/acrylic) has to be applied on both models occlusally.

Step 3 Both sides of the primobyte centric registration base plate are protected by separating paper.

This paper needs to be removed on one side of the base plate.

Step 4 The centric registration base plate is adapted to the upper model with the remaining separating paper facing towards the lower model.

Step 5 After the inital adaptation, the articulator is closed strongly in order to press down and thin out the centric registration base plate.

Step 6 The upper model with the readily adapted centric registration base plate in place, is removed from the articulator. The base plate is then polymerized in an adequate light curing unit (ideally Lumos by primodent) for three to six minutes.

Step 7 After light curing, the polymerized primobyte centric registration base plate has to be finished by grinding with carbide burs (used for acrylic) as follows:

- First the base plate is shortened distally of the last two antogonizing teeth and along the connecting line of the upper buccal cusps.

- Second sharp edges are rounded off with sandpaper.

Now the primobyte centric registration plate is ready to be used in the patients mouth.

Centric Bite Registration Procedure

Step 8 Materials and tools needed for the centric bite registration:

  • Red occlusion silk
  • Schimstock foil
  • Pencil
  • Handpiece with diamond bur
  • Swab
  • Primobyte detail paste

Step 9 The primobyte centric registration base plate is positioned on the patients upper teeth and the perfect passive fit is verified.

Step 10 The contact points of the lower canines as well as the first and second molar are marked by utilizing the red occlusion silk.

Step 11 To minimize the vertical lifting, the registration base plate needs to be thinned out as much as possible.

Step 12 The following lower contacts (in centric condyle position) need to be cross-marked with a pencil:

- interproximal area between lower laterals and canines.

- buccal groove of the last molar.

Step 13 primobyte detail paste is applied on the anterior cross-marks.

Step 14 The patient needs to be guided onto centric position several times.

Step 15 The centric registration base plate is removed from the patients mouth and the added primobyte detail paste is polymerized in an adequate light curing unit (ideally Lumos by primodent)

Step 16 Exceeding primobyte detail paste is removed by grinding with a diamond bur (max. depth of impression should be 0.5mm)

Step 17 Primobyte detail paste is applied on the posterior cross-marks and the patient is again guided into centric position several times.

Step 18 the centric registration is removed from mouth and the primobyte detail polymerized curing unit (ideally primodent)

Step 19 exceeding primobyte detail paste is removed by grinding with a diamond bur (max. depth of impression should be 0,5 mm)

Step 20 The perfect fit of the primobyte detail paste has to be finally verified in the patients mouth using Schimstock foil

In addition, the perfect fit of the final primobyte centric bite registrate on the lower model has to be checked
